Black And White Art

Black And White Art

WALT: Write in depth about our art.

On Friday 12th August, we had a reliever in. What we had to do with her was sketch out a pet animal. I chose a dog. I tried to make it look like my dog. But it didn't turn out as good as I was hoping. We then had to cut it out making sure we left a bit of white around the edge. We then had to glue it on a coloured piece of paper. We could choose from, green, red, blue and yellow. I decided on green because I thought it would suit what I was doing. While those were drying, we had to get a black and white pastel. We had to use another piece of paper and do a black and white design. Since I did a dog, I was thinking a very outside, energetic, type of dog. So for the background I made a very magical garden like area, it had bees and a fully black tree in the far area. The teacher said I should darken an blades of grass, so I did. I'm glad I did because it gave it a very nice effect. So here's my picture. My favourite part was when I shaded the trees it looks very effective!
Here's another but a bit further out!

What do you think of my drawing? How could I improve? What would you have done differently?

Acrostic Poem

Acrostic Poem

Today I made an acrostic poem about my friend, Anika Jellick. I chose to do her because, well she's my friend... Here it is!

A great friend and big support.

Nice, friendly and approachable.

Invincible to negativity.

Krazy and weird.

Awesome and amazing.

Joyful and genuine.

Eccentric.

Lousy, and lovely.

Loud.

Creative and cool.

Kid like, childish.

What did you think? How could I improve? What do you think about the Krazy one? Would you have done that?

Persuasive Writing - No More Homework!

No More Homework!
WALT: Write on our blog about a recent learning activity.
Last week we started writing a persuasive writing piece on why we should/shouldn't have homework any more. Here is my writing piece and I hope if you were my teacher you would be swayed!

No More Homework!

Have you ever gotten homework and thought, ‘where did this mountain come from?’ Well, do I have news for you! The mountain that you dragged into your room from your back, is your homework! This is not too much of a problem in primary schools but in colleges or universities, you’ll be carrying a stack of homework, so, in this explanation, I’ll be explaining why homework should be no more! So teachers, listen up!

Back Pains
Typically while lugging mountains of homework in your bag you can develop back problems, very common back problems are in your lower back, so when you’re older, your more likely to get chronical back pains in your adulthood. From all that homework in your bag, you could get back pains as I said before causing: A person to lean forward - making it easier for the person to fall, which could be fatal, it could also lead to rounded shoulders, which is pretty much constant slouching which is really bad for you and your posture obviously!

Mild Insomnia
While doing homework - not commonly with primary students - students tend to get stressed out because they haven’t finished their homework, so they stay up, late at night. Leading to mild insomnia, for those who don't know what insomnia is, its a sleeping disorder, or lack of sleep. Insomnia only occurs in rare cases, mostly in colleges and universities. Insomnia can lead to anxiety, stress, depressed, angry and unpleasant all the time. Which leads me to my next paragraph…

Anxiety, Depression and emotionally unbalanced
In very, very, very, very rare cases, (for people who absolutely DESPISE homework) you could from insomnia develop Anxiety, depression and more. People with these mental illnesses tend to be introverted and hate social interactions, even just getting groceries! They also most of the time hate the sunlight, locking themselves in their room, curtains closed, which is also very unhealthy. Majority of these people have a very pale complexion because of the lack of sunlight. Which in brief, each of these can ruin your life.

In the long run, in most cases, a little homework is harmless, but if there were unhealthy amounts that is when things can turn foul. I would say if you were a teacher, maybe give them a week off homework when you get back from holidays or a week before holidays. That will not only make you their favourite teacher but also help keep their stress levels manageable. Thank you for listening.
